🧭 I wasn't afk, I was investing in the long-term · The Bunker #134

I wasn’t afk, I was investing in the long-term

I’m clear about one thing: I plan to do this for a long time.

This has probably been the longest break I’ve ever taken. Almost 4 months with barely any new posts. And it’s not that I had nothing to share, I just lost a bit of clarity on the goal.

Really, why am I doing all this?

You see, exactly 3 months ago I fulfilled one of my dreams: taking my grandparents to the United States.

They’re 77 years old, and we spent 10 days in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas.

Those GTA players will surely know this place 😉.

I got to see the joy on my grandparents’ faces being there, amazed that they’d left Spain and Europe for the first time in their lives.

They had traveled before, but the farthest had been Holland or England maybe.

They’re very Spanish, very attached to their hometown, and seeing something completely different was impactful for them.

Literally, my grandmother stood in Los Angeles, at the Hollywood sign... at the Santa Monica Pier... even in Las Vegas. It’s still crazy to me, and I can’t believe it every time I think about it.

Seeing my grandparents outside their village was impactful, not just for them, but for me too.

I felt like I had already achieved everything in life. Of course not, I still owe a lot to my parents and I want to do something even bigger for them.

But my grandparents are pretty old, and I didn’t know much time I had left to do this.

This trip was a small reminder of why I do things.

I’m 24 years old and this year I bought my first property with my partner.

Yes, this 2025 I bought my first property too 🏠!

I took my grandparents to California and visited Japan. And I live on over €3,000 net every month.

Of course I have many things left to do, but I’m very happy with everything I’ve achieved so far.

And everything I do day-to-day is literally for this. I don’t want money for anything other than seeing my family happy.

And that’s why I’m back. Obviously I wasn’t going to leave forever, I just had a few weeks of lost focus on the goal, temporarily straying from the path.

But this trip reminded me why I’m here writing you this newsletter.

Sometimes in life, it’s not all about motivation. We stop doing things because of loss of focus. We need to really ask ourselves why we’re doing things.

This used to happen to me at the gym too. “I’m just not motivated.” Yeah, but do you actually remember why you went to the gym?

It’s probably not a loss of motivation, but a loss of focus on the goal.

Maybe you’re like I was, living on $500 with my parents, freshly graduated from university, still without a job, without a partner, and a bit lost in life. In just 3 years, everything has changed.

All it took was some order and taking things very calmly.

If I stop to think: 4 months without posting, that could be a lot of time, right? But... what if you look at it over 10 years? Suddenly it’s nothing, quite insignificant.

And this doesn’t mean that not posting for 4 months is fine.

It means it’s not such a big deal, depending on how you want to see things. Day-to-day, it’s a lot, but in the long term it’s really not that much. It’s still 4 months, but maybe taking these 4 months helped me understand and build things better.

And here I am, writing this newsletter while remembering how I drove on the highway from Los Angeles to Morro Bay, listening to my grandfather commenting on how cool he thought the American ranches were hahaha... that really was happiness. I just want to have the money to do this kind of thing, nothing else.

So yes, I’m also a person who loses motivation like you. It doesn’t matter how big or rich you are, we’re all people and yes, I also experience the same things and thoughts with €3,500 a month as when I was in high school.

It’s not a lack of motivation, it was just a lack of focus. With so much work and stress in life, it’s easy to forget why you were really doing all this.

And of course, I went 2 months without posting anything, but all my products and projects kept making money. That’s the fruit of work well done. Build once, sell forever. But we’ll get into that later. (Because it’s really not quite like that).

Remember: Sometimes you need to give yourself this time to think, and that’s okay. It seems like a lot of time if you’re looking at it with a lot of zoom, but if you step back, it’s an insignificant fraction of the whole journey ahead of you.

Prioritize, focus, and take it easy.

See you next week ✌️

Jordi.
