Hello, welcome back to The Bunker for another week! We’re getting really close to reaching 100 posts… how exciting! This number really means a lot to me.

Reaching 100 posts isn’t just a number; it’s the result of consistent work over the years.

Getting to 100 means being able to maintain this newsletter by posting every week for two full years!

I’m writing this post today because it’s been five years since I last created or founded any organization, and just in 2024, I’ve launched two:

As a result, some of you have been reaching out with comments and questions like:

How do you start something?
How do you come up with ideas?
How do you find the energy and motivation to create new things?

I find this topic really interesting, so this week’s post will be my response to the question: What would you recommend for getting started with my own projects?

First of all, I’m really glad that you have ideas and want to create things. For me, this is like the engine or fuel of my life, I can never stop thinking about new things to create.

The one piece of advice I’d give in response to this question is: Nothing is as hard as it seems. Start with something simple, but start.

I used to be someone who was afraid of everything out of laziness.
But now I’m someone who makes significant progress and gets excited to do new things, without worrying whether the project is big or small.

I think one of the things that held me back, and I believe it might hold you back too, is the overwhelming perspective we sometimes have.

For example, if someone says, “Create your own Design System,” instead of focusing on the strategy you could follow to do it, you get stuck thinking about all the things you still have to accomplish.

One thing that helps me move forward with new projects is reducing the scope so I can start.

It’s true that creating a Design System is a lot of work, but let’s look at it this way:

I’ll start by defining the most basic styles in Figma, what style do I want my Design System to have?
I make a list of all the components I want it to include.
If there are 200 components, I’ll only release 50 in the first version.
Then, I’ll add 5 new ones each week.
In 30 weeks (6 months, half a year), I’ll have all 200 components.

Once the day comes and I’ve got all 200 components, I’ll think, “Wow, it wasn’t that bad since I did it little by little…”

I believe the desire to do something new and see immediate results is what can hold you back.

Take it easy and at least give it a try.

What I always do is:

I have an idea, and if the scope is too large, I try to reduce it.
I build the simplest MVP and launch it.
Over time, I keep iterating, and after 2 years, I have an excellent product. → This helps me take the pressure off and enjoy the journey. Plus, you can always share your progress on social media and build a community as you go.

So if you have an idea you want to start working on: Reduce the scope and try it out. It’s much easier to achieve your goal when you’re moving with momentum than when you go from 0 to 100 km/h.
