🍋 11 Design Life Lessons for 2025 · The Bunker #106
Hi friend 👋🏻!
Welcome to The Bunker.
A Newsletter in which we talk about UX Design and the Freelance Journey, dedicated to those who are starting out in both worlds and who feel identified.
From The Bunker, we accompany you on the way.
Each year I like to make this post because it helps me reflect and remember the things that truly should matter to me.
Throughout the year, I get so many inputs that it feels like I need to make a list of my values to gradually remind myself of them.
If I had to tell you 11 valuable lessons to start applying in 2025, here’s what I would say (in no particular order):
-
Create more than you consume. → Many people waste time wanting to learn and spend all their time studying and discovering new things (which is also fine), but over time, you realize that true learning happens when you put your skills into practice.
If I had to recommend something to anyone, it would be: Get moving, do things.
**
Always stay doing things.**-
If you don't know what to do professionally → It doesn’t matter; try doing something to discover what to do next.
-
If you’re not good enough → It’s okay; practice, and you’ll get better.
-
-
Increase luck: Luck is an important factor, and it's important to consider it as another element.
However, it’s a factor you can increase to some extent. You can improve your chances of luck. Work as hard as you can and be smart.
-
Work on your body as soon as possible → This is the foundation that will make everything else easier:
-
Family
-
Partner
-
Work
-
Friendships
-
Hobbies
All of these are infinitely easier when problems arise if you have a healthy body and are happy or proud of it.
And the other way around: When problems arise in those areas and you’re not happy with your body: the problems become even more pronounced. -
-
Work on your finances as soon as possible: You can follow the 70% spending, 20% savings, 10% investment model. Doesn’t matter which plan you follow, but make a plan.
-
Trust your intuition: It’s important to listen to your gut, brain, and heart, but especially your intuition. If something worries you, there’s a reason. If something motivates you, there’s a reason.
-
Think before taking action. And when you’re heated, wait to cool down.
-
Work on your consistency and patience. We live in an era of immediacy; people want things now, and when they get bored or stop enjoying something, they move on to something else. True success lies in doing ordinary things for an extraordinary amount of time.
-
Do what you want, do what makes you happy → But also understand that nothing worth having comes easy. Work on what makes you happy, but you’ll still have to work hard.
-
Say no to things you don’t feel like doing. If you don’t feel like doing something, don’t do it. If you’re invited somewhere and don’t feel like going → Don’t go.
-
You are the only one responsible for your life. You are solely responsible for making things work or not.
-
Keep it simple. Many problems in life come from overcomplicating things, trying to do too much in a disorganized way. You’ll find more peace of mind if you try to do a few things very well rather than many things poorly.
Until next time,
Jordi Espinosa.
